#5 WATER WORLD
This is an easy one. I wanted to create a full underwater scene. Everything you can imagine seeing on a reef dive just off the coast of Florida or the Bahamas.
When the city of Hollywood commissioned me to create a wrap for one of their electrical boxes I thought of it as being a great opportunity to create such a scene. What many may not know about this image is that the sides line up perfectly to create a looped image.
I also wanted to create a piece of art that every time you look at it you notice something new. Water World holds so many little details that it’s impossible to take it all in at once.
#4 BOAT CLUB
It’s no secret that one of my favorite places to be is in The Keys. Much of my inspiration is pulled from there and Boat Club is no different. Ive always had the bar scene drawn out in my head, with a beer and a shot to wind down after a long day, but it all came together as I sat down at what is now one of my favorite stops in the keys. Some of the image has been embellished to capture the feeling of old Florida, but this special location brought the tiki bar, fish mounts, bartop and sunset view to life. Let me know once you figure out which Keys bar this reminds you of!
#3 CALICO REEF
This is a fantasy piece from the perspective of sitting reef side on the ocean floor looking up. The name comes from the tales of Calico Jack, an English Pirate pillaging the Bahamas and Cuba coasts. Ive always imagined lost spoils of gold laying somewhere on the reefs, waiting for the right storm to reveal their shiny hiding spots. An old skull watches over the lost treasures and as time goes on, becomes one with the reef. My time spent diving the local reefs paved the way for this painting. I was inspired to create somewhat of a dream scenario of what I would hope to see on each one of my dives.
#2 TENTACLES
I am fascinated by Octopi. They are intelligent creatures with an even more intelligent design. There is so much detail and depth when it comes to painting these creatures that I would find myself lost in the process. This was not the first octopus I ever painted but it was certainly one of my favorites.
I really pushed myself to capture its perfect flowing movements. An oldie but goodie…This was a must add to my collection and remains one of my favorites still.
It had been quite a few years since I painted my last sailfish. Sure, I’ve sketched and marker rendered quite a few over the last few years… But sitting down to create a new Sailfish in acrylic was a must kept nagging at me.
Being in the heart of the Bluewater Movements fishing tournament season I had a lot of inspiration to pull from. Being around all the fishing teams made me want to show the speed and agility of the Sailfish as it zips through the water, its sail slicing through the surf.
Well that’s it, there are my top 5, but there is a special place in my heart for all of my pieces! Have a look through the entire catalog with the button below and let us know if you have any questions.
