Did you know that Eddie Forbes Art is the featured trophy artist for the Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit? After years of focusing on the wholesale side of the business, I decided it was time to return to some things that I love. It was time to get more involved with the local fishing chapters and learn more about the crafts that inspire me.
The Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit provides the perfect opportunity to mix it up with fishermen and women from all different backgrounds and levels of knowledge in the game. The PBSC is a three-leg tournament with a $500,000 purse! It focuses on Dolphin, Wahoo, Tuna, Cobia, and Kingfish.
Many good things have come from jumping head-first into the tournament scene. Being the featured artist involves the creation of the tournament trophies, and I’ve found myself painting other species of fish that sometimes get lost (no pun intended) in the sea of dolphin, tuna, and wahoo art. My newest cobia and kingfish paintings result from getting outside that bubble and creating scenes I always told myself, “I’d get to one day.”
I design every tournament trophy to look like a piece of art and commemorate the winning teams’ accomplishments. The trophies come in different shapes and sizes and include categories such as Top Overall Team, Top Cobia, Top Female Angler, Semi-Pro Division, etc.
The tournaments also provide an opportunity to give back to the community.
We help sponsor many great causes through partnerships and organizations such as Captains for Clean Water who are leading the charge in securing funding for protecting our waterways and provide education based on keeping our coastal environments healthy for everyone to enjoy.
As part of this effort, I built a custom bar with my new Limited Edition “Blue Water Sail” which we are raffling away this month. Proceeds will be contributed to the South Florida chapter of Captains for Clean Water to help in their fight.
I am excited to get more involved with local and non-local tournaments as time goes on. The community, the interaction, and the excitement help keep the creative juices flowing.
Now it’s time to get back to work on my newest Limited Edition Wahoo painting… but we’ll save that reveal for another time!
